Dr. Burnquist's Bio
Bonnie Burnquist was born in Washington, DC. She attended DC public
schools until moving to Bowie, MD. She graduated from Bowie High
School and soon thereafter enlisted in the Air Force. She served
on active duty as an electronics technician for four years. She
then left active duty to attend the University of Maryland in College
Park, graduating with a degree in Biology. Bonnie then went to George
Washington University Medical School.
After graduating from medical school in 1986, Dr. Burnquist became
Captain Burnquist and entered active duty as an Air Force physician.
She did her Family Medicine residency at Andrews Air Force Base
and served over seven years on active duty. After the first Gulf
War, Dr. Burnquist left active duty and joined a private practice
group in Harrisburg, PA. She was there for several years, but then
for family reasons, came back to Washington, DC and joined Georgetown
University Medical Group. Soon she was promoted to Medical Director
of the outpatient satellite in Arlington and served in this capacity
until the satellite was closed by Georgetown.
Dr. Burnquist then relocated to Bethany Beach and opened her own
office in Ocean View. She now practices traditional Family Medicine
and also aesthetics. She offers anti-aging skin care, laser hair
removal, laser vein treatments, as well as traditional medical care
to patients of almost all ages. She is also proud of the fact that
she retired after a total of 27 years in the Air Force. She was
also listed as one of Washingtonian Magazine’s physicians
of the year in 2002.
